MT VICTORIA - Auckland



Mount Victoria (Takarunga) is the highest volcano on Auckland's North Shore. The volcano offers wonderful views of Auckland from a height of 87 m.  The site was once an important pa with some of the pa's earthworks still showing. The Mount was named after Queen Victoria and provides panoramic views of Auckland's Waitemata Harbour and the inner Hauraki Gulf.

ST PATRICKS CATHEDRAL - Auckland​

 

Built in 1907, St Patricks Cathedral delivers gothic design blended with polished wood and belgian stained glass.  The cathedral is considered a beautiful example of historic design.

​PARNELL ROSE GARDENS - Auckland

 

The Parnell Rose Gardens bloom from November through to March.  Worth a look for that stroll on a sunny day.  Popular for weddings they also have high tea on Wednesdays from 1pm-4pm.  From the gardens you can reach Judges Bay and St Stephens Chapel.

QUEEN STREET - Auckland

 

Auckland's Queen St is the main Shopping throughfare in Auckland.  Here you'll find a wealth and variety of shops to keep you occupied all day.  The street spans the distance from K-Road to the Viaduct Harbour allowing you walking access to Ponsonby, K-Road and ferries for that trip to Waiheke Island or Devonport..

NORTH HEAD HISTORIC RESERVE - Auckland​

 

North Head is situated at the mouth of Auckland's Waitemata harbour. Initially a Maori Pa for its strategic defensive site, North head then became a lookout point during World War War II.  The reserve offers walkways, an expansive tunnel network and historic memorabilia of its World War II occupation.

ARTSTATION - Auckland

 

Artstation provides exhibit space for the local communities emerging artists to exhibit their work, works varying from pacific island through to alternative industrial.  The exhibits vary every month so your always bound to see fresh collections of work.

AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY CLOCK TOWER
- Auckland

 

​The ivory tower was built in 1926 and designed in art nouveau style.  The tower is considered an architectual accomplishment.  Open daily, your welcome to view the structure inside and out.

Sky Tower Auckland
SKY TOWER - Auckland

 

​The Sky Tower is an observation and telecommunications tower located on the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets in the Auckland CBD. It is 328 metres (1,076 ft) tall, making it the tallest man-made structure in the Southern Hemisphere and has become an iconic landmark in Auckland's skyline due to its height and unique design.

Access to the top is by way of glass fronted lifts with the tower offers breathtaking views for up to 80 kilometres in every direction.  At the top there are also cafes and restaurants for you to enjoy.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR BRIDGE - Auckland

 

The Auckland Harbour Bridge is considered a New Zealand Icon with construction beginning in 1954 and ending in 1959.  The bridge is 1,020 m (3,348 ft) long with a span of 243.8 m, rising 43.27 m above water allowing ships access to the wharf at the Chelsea Sugar Refinery.

There are several tourist activities available for you to utilise; from hiking the bridge to jumping off it.

Auckland Harbour Bridge
KINDER HOUSE - Auckland

 

​Kinder House was constructed in 1857 and is built of volcanic stone. The building was commissioned by Bishop G. A. Selwyn as a schoolmaster's house for the first headmaster of the Church of England Grammar School of which was Dr John Kinder (1819-1903).  The home displays memorabilia as well as examples of his watercoloured paintings.
