Baylys Beach is a popular summer location for nearby Dargaville residents. The beach is very accessible with patrons being able to drive onto the sand without fear of being bogged in a 2WD vehicle. This is a well used feature of the beach but a large hazard with swimmers and surfers being able to isolate themselves. The beach is dangerous, with strong rips, large holes and powerful waves that change with the tide and also without warning. Baylys Beach has no Lifegaurding Service.
