FREDERICK HUNDERTWASSER TOILET
- Kawakawa​
The Frederick Hundertwasser Toilets were constructed in 1998 when the Kawakawa Community Board were looking to upgrade the 40-year-old toilet facilities in the central township, Hundertwasser offered a solution. His concept was adopted to which he personally lent a hand in construction & supervision, including the provision of materials from his studio.

BUTLER POINT WHALING MUSEUM - Hihi​
Butler Point Whaling Museum is situated at Hihi, 15km northeast of Mangonui. The museum is a small private museum displaying marine items of interest set in a Victorian homestead (built in 1843) on attractive gardens. The homesteads owner, Captain Butler, was a former whaling captain who settled in Hihi in 1839, had 13 children and became a trader, farmer, magistrate and Member of Parliament.
Location: Marchant Rd, Hihi, 40 minute drive from Kerikeri, 15km's northeast of Mangonui.
Hours: by appointment only - freephone 0800 museum.

​ST JAMES ANGLICAN CHURCH - Kerikeri
The church is situated on the hill above the Stone Store, It is the third built in the area, and second on this site which overlooks the basin. The intial church was a little combined chapel and school built near the water on April 19, 1824. It was later replaced in 1829 by a 38 ft lath and plaster structure. The next expansion of the church, built of weatherboard and battens was in 1878. It wasn't until 1963 when the church was again expanded to its present day size to cater for the congregation.

​FLAGSTAFF HILL HISTORIC RESERVE - Russell
From 1840 to 1913 six flagstaffs were erected here. The actions of Hone Heke in cutting down the 4 flagstaffs in the 1800's was in reaction to their presence and the flying of the european flag which symbolised to the Maori their loss of prosperity and loss of authority. The flagstaff today flys the flag of the Maori confederate tribes. The Maori flag was flown here from 1834 till 1840.

RUAPEKAPEKA PA HISTORIC RESERVE
- 16km south of Kawakawa.
The Ruapekapeka Pa is the site of the last battle of the Northland war. The pa offers information boards detailing the event and the extent of the fortifications present.
​Location: Ruapekapeka Rd, take SH 1 turnoff about 1 km north of the Towai Hotel, 16 km south of Kawakawa.
